This was the day thatthe REP announced to the world that it has been officially rebranded as National Energy Solutions (NESol). Mr. Garfield Daley, the Acting Managing Director of NESol, explained it bestin his 40th anniversary message published earlier.
“Now in our 40th year of operations, we are in a transition that represents a seismic shift,” Mr. Daley had said. Using conventional methods the REP achieved than 97.5% electrification.
“As we move to achieve 100% electrification we are making the shift to renewable energy. The introduction of renewable systems will complete the 100% mandate in a more cost effective and efficient way,” Mr. Daley said.
The launch of NESol took place at the National Indoor Sports Complex at Independence Park.
The event performed the dual roles of launching NESol as well as announcing its first project, the solarisation of the National Indoor Sports Complex in Independence Park. Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, the Hon. Phillip Paulwell joined Minister Natalie Neita Headley, Minister with responsibility for Sports in the Office of the Prime Minister, in the unveiling of drawings of the new fully solarized NESol building to be constructed at 113 Washington Boulevard. They also unveiled the drawing of the National Indoor Sports Complex bearing its first set of solar panels.
Minister Neita Headley expressed delight that the solarisationat Independence Park would be the first project by NESol. She said this was a timely initiative as the sporting industry had long suffered from the high cost of electricity at sporting venues. With solarisation the National Indoors Sports Complex would become a most desirable venue for organisers of indoor sports events and attract other types of events as well.
The launch was attended by delegates representing a wide spectrum of interests in the private and public sector as well as from the diplomatic community, whose representatives came from China, Germany the USA and Nigeria.
The NESol staff were resplendent in their new uniforms bearing the NESol logo. The new NESol banner was also unveiled.Tags:
